I haven't been able to get to my sewing machine all week. Yikes! Last night, I decided I needed to accomplish something so I pulled out my hexagon templates.
I made these from a Haunted Mansion charm pack and hand appliqued the flower onto a kitchen towel I picked up at Target. Quick and easy holiday project!

Andrea's 1 Inch Hexagons (12 Inch Block) for the KC Scrappy Bee
Here's a picture of Andrea's block that I made for her math quilt. I stay-stitched 1/8 inch around the edges so that it wouldn't fall apart and I removed all of the paper & basting stitches. I love the way this one turned out.
Hexagon Progress
I've been using a template that makes hexagons that are a little smaller than 1 inch, but I think I'm going to switch gears and start making 1 inch ones. Seems like that's a standard size that I could use and I could swap with other people to get more variety.
I will probably use these to embellish other projects, though. I love making hexagons.

The Texas Freckles Blog is a fabulous resource for hexagon addicts. Here is a link to her 1 inch hexagon template.
I'm thinking we all should make some 1 inch hexagons in modern fabrics and have a swap in the next few months. Grab your favorite fabric, cut it into 2.5 inch squares and start making hexagons, my friends! More info to come...
